Orkiestra Reprezentacyjna Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej is a group of young people – students of the Academy of Mining and Iron and Steel Industry and students of other colleges in Kraków – whose common passion is the love to music. The orchestra came into being in 2001, as the first wind orchestra functioning in the frame of a technical college in Poland. Since then it plays in music clubs in Kraków, but also at international festivals and takes part in competitions. Furthermore it adds splendour to the events of the Academy of Mining and Iron and Steel Industry in Kraków.
The ensemble playes a wide ranged repertoire which contains a huge amount of popular music and film music. Until now the orchestra played which such artist like Pogodno, Cabaret Dno, REBEL BABEL and L.U.C as well as Sokół Orkestar. It works on behalf of the Students' and Graduates' Foundation of the Academy of Mining and Iron and Steel Industry in Kraków ACADEMICA. Some of the most important successes are: Internazionale Bande Musicali Giulianova (Italy)– 2nd Award (2013), XXV International Festival of Wind Orchestras ‚Golden Lyra’ in Rybnik (Poland) – Golden Ribbon Summa cum laude and Festival's Grand Prix – Cup of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2016), II International Festival and Orchestras' Competition „Golden Sardana” (Lloret de Mar/Barcelona, Spain) – 1st Award (2017)
