Fanfarenzug Greiz was established in 1964. During the first years of its activity the biggest success was the gain of the bronze medal during the first GDR-Championships. The political Wende and the collapse of the GDR led to a lot of changes. Thanks to a lot of intensively trained young and inspired talents  the ensemble was able to take part in competitions in the mid-90ties. New successes came up. In 2000 there was earned the title of the Thuringian Federal State Champion as well as first positions during the following years. Unforgettable was the organization of the Federal State Championships in 2004 in Greiz.

Thanks to hard work the band was able to gain the winner's cup in 2008 during the Lausitz-Cup and 2009 during the Thuringian Championships. In 2013 the Fanfarenzug Greiz brought the Show Cup of the city Potsdam to Greiz. The highlights in 2014 were the fourth place during the show competition of the second division in the Fanfaronadeand the win in the open classes during the Thuringian Federal State Championships. In 2015 there was gained the first place in the second division in the marching competition, the second place in the show competition and therefore the second place in the overall placings. In 2016 the band gained the golden medal in the marching and in the show competition. Also the year 2017 was full of successes. The ensemble earned the second and the third place during the Fanfaronade. Currently there are 45 musicians playing in the band. Musical leader is Mike Steudel, staff leader Robin Vogel.
