The orchestra came into being on the 1st of April 1954 and since then works by the brown coal mine Konin. The orchestra’s line-up contains 50 musicians. They play classical music, opera, film music, jazz, pop, patriotic and sacral music. The orchestra takes part in parades and orchestras’ tattoos presented during open-air events.
The most important achievements are: 1st prize during the 19th District Festival of Wind Orchestras (Briańsk, 1988), 1st prize for the best marching play at the 5th Polish Tournament of Wind Orchestras (Poznań, 1996), the Golden Horn – 1st prize of the Tournament of Wind Orchestras (Grodzisk Wielkopolski, 1992, 1996, 2001), 4th prize in the concert category and 5th prize in the category orchestras’ tattoo at the International Festival of the German Award (Alsfeld, 2003), 1st prize Grand Prix at the 15th Tournament of Wind Orchestras of Wielkopolska “Leon Schubert” (Września, 2008), 1st prize at the International Wind Orchestras’ Meeting Alte Kameraden 2008 (Gorzów Wielkopolski) and the participation in a concert for pope John Paul II at the St. Peter’s Square.
