Youth Wind Orchestra Ziesar
Youth Wind Orchestra Ziesar/ Germany came into beeing in June 1958. Now it has its seat in the 1000 year old town – Ziesar, in the Federal Land – Brandenburg. The Band orchestra performs every year about 40 concerts in Germany, Europe and in the world. It has given concerts in: Spain, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, France, Norway, Sweden and Czech Republic so far. In 2003 it gave some concerts in South America. It also plays 3 serenade concerts in the castle in Ziesar yearly.
Tradition of making music by miners working in Turów Mine is an undeniable evidence of building up the cultural needs and possibilities of satisfying them in this part of Poland. The orchestra came into being in 1948, and has been acting till now. The founder and the first conductor was Michał Durajczy. He was followed by: Jan Jarzyna, Józef Sztukowski, Tadeusz Grudziński, Czesław Słupecki. Since 1994 this post of eminence has been fullfiled by Jerzy Brzozowski, who cultivates the rich musical tradition of the orchestra.
